Day7 - from to Kalajoki to Luosto

First thing in the morning: Eme Efka, Peteri and Heikki join forces to repair the bike as previously instructed by Minimus. Corrections are done to entire satisfaction of Senior-Pilot. Marja has to leave for work, so we begin our sad good-byes. Then Marianne leaves us for a work-call, another good-bye. Heikki, Minimus and Maximus wait for us to get on the bike and wave us while we ride away.
Thank you all very much for your generous hospitality!!!

The road continues under a strong sun with blue sky through dense woods, lakes and moose signs. Wait!! There! All of a sudden something is moving around the bushes. The car in front of us stops...

and when it leaves, we see…

no moose, but our first reindeer! Yeahhh!! We are still very happy to finally meet Santa Clause’s pets.

Aware of life in those woods, we continue with plenty of enthusiasm.

We cross the polar circle which is only pointed out by the GPS, no Finnish celebration mark to remind us that we are crossing to the fun side of the world. We quickly stop to have our own celebration.

We arrive in Luosto, Finland’s biggest ski-resort. Our hotel is surrounded by reindeers of all colours and sizes, but also other animals.

Monique Takeapic is heating up the camera until we realize that it’s 2 a.m. with the sun still shining on us… so we force ourselves to hit the beds.

  1. What did Thor Telloni arrange for dinner?
We hope the albino reindeer did not have to meet Suzette Flambée. : )
